Exciting Summer Activities to Keep School Students Engaged

As summer comes, parents and guardians frequently ask how to keep their schoolchildren interested and entertained at home. While it’s essential for children to have a relaxing time off, maintaining their intellectual stimulation and interest is equally important.

We at Sri Sri Academy recognize the importance of offering opportunities for learning, creativity and discovery during this time which is why today we share a few exciting summer activities to keep school students engaged, interested and motivated throughout the summer months.

Create a Summer Scrapbook

Summer scrapbooks are a great summer activity as they not only encourage creativity and fine motor skills but also assist children improve their storytelling ability thus as parents, you should encourage your kids to create a scrapbook of their summer adventures.

In their scrapbook, they can include photographs, drawings and recollections from their favorite summer activities, it’s a fantastic way to recall all of the wonderful experiences they experienced throughout the summer. Children may also include their own artwork to make it even more precious and unique.

Planting

If you are thinking of quiet and intelligent summer activities for kids then you should go ahead with planting.

You can assign them three to four plant pots and give them the task of taking care of the plants, additionally, you can teach them how to water and care for these plants.

This summer activity will not only help them feel empowered but will instill a feeling of duty accountability and empathy in them.

Take a Field Trip

Summer is an ideal time to enjoy the great outdoors so make sure to take your children on a field trip. Take a trip in the forest, go bird watching or visit a wildlife refuge.

There are several natural treasures to discover and experience over the summer, plus, it’s a terrific way to get some fresh air and allow the kids to interact with nature.

Send Postcards

Encourage your children to compose postcards or messages to friends and family from wherever they are spending their summers.

If they are not traveling then have them send letters to schoolmates they haven’t seen in a while or to family members who live away. Not only does this summer activity help kids to stay in touch with friends and family but also improves their handwriting, spelling and storytelling abilities.

Play Games

Playing games is what we consider as one of the best summer activities to keep school students engaged. So depending on the children’s ages, gather the family around a favorite board or card game.

From Go Fish and Memory Match to Monopoly and Chess, there are a variety of classic games that will educate your children to think critically and solve problems while also improving their memory recall.

Get Crafty

At Sri Sri Academy, we encourage our student’s parents to borrow a cookbook for kids from any library and follow a simple step-by-step recipe.

Alternatively, you can get kids outside to build a bird feeder. Although the sky is the limit, the trick is to get children to do something active instead of passively consuming media.

Final Thoughts

Summer slide is an actual issue but by doing our bit and encouraging school students as well as their families to continue to be active and engaged, we can help our students transform their summer months into a fun as well as innovative learning experience.
