The foundation school

Boond

a drop in Hindi, kanah in Sanskrit

A whole school grown from one small word. Boond is a safe, nurturing and stimulating place for children from 18 months to 6 years. The work of the day is to become independent, confident and a little bit adventurous.

01The idea

Every ocean anyone ever loved began as one drop.

The Hindi word ‘Boond’ means drop. In Sanskrit, it is ‘kanah’. The school was born of that very idea: an intent to give children as young as 18 months a place to flourish, be independent, confident and adventurous as they learn and grow.

Our preschool has been thoughtfully planned, and every child in it receives personalised attention. The institution is built on a belief that the essence of education is helping children recognise their own enormous potential. Learning is the catalyst that draws it out.

The formative years of a child’s life matter most. That is why the child-centric approach here starts at 18 months, not at Class I.

03Five domains

Discover, imagine, create, learn, grow.

Children under our care grow along five domains of development. None of them is a subject, and all of them are taught every single day.

  1. 01

    Socio-emotional

Naming feelings, waiting a turn and settling a disagreement. Children also learn to walk into a room full of people without holding on to someone’s hand.

  2. 02

    Intellectual

Noticing, sorting, comparing and asking the next question. These habits sit underneath every subject that comes later.

  3. 03

    Physical

Gross and fine motor work, from climbing and balancing down to the pencil grip that makes writing possible.

  4. 04

    Linguistic

Listening, retelling, rhyming and speaking up build vocabulary through conversation rather than worksheets.

  5. 05

    Creative

Making things that did not exist that morning through paint, clay, movement, music and invented games.

04The family

When a child joins, so does everyone at home.

Grandparents included. Days like Grandparents’ Day and Father’s Day are not decoration. They teach respect for elders by having them there in the room.

Alongside them run workshops and seminars for parents, so the people raising the child and the people teaching the child are working from the same page.

In the treasure trove of life, childhood memories stay with us longest.
